Fizz's ARC 2009 Atlantic crossing has inspired a number of budding poets to put pen to paper. The poems, written during the ARC, are reproduced below for your enjoyment:

we set sail from spain,
in sun not in rain,
heading out west,
in shorts and a vest,
enjoying the breeze,
eating macaroni cheese,
in fizz we trust,
for the carribean we lust,
sail on me hearties,
lets have some parties!!

500 miles across the sea
we've got bangers and mash for our tea
the weather's improving, it's getting quite hot
but David's not happy, he's got gut-rot
the 4 metre swell that was making us tip
has flattened out nicely, cold beer John now sips
Stu has tried his luck catching the fishes
but is having more luck doing the dishes
thank goodness now Fizz is making good speed
Chris's start line tantrums we no longer heed
Liz has tried her hand at steering the boat
and just about managed to keep it afloat
we are all missing family and friends back at home
but are consoling ourselves with Taffy the gnome

Three days now i've been home alone
I'm like a dog whose lost his bone
Cooking for one isnt much fun
Colonel Sanders here i come
The sinks full of dishes
Where is the misses
Theres mould in the larder
I must try harder
I'm looking for a cleaner whos willing and able
To clean all the dishes and polish the table
Ingrid was good i didnt rate Mable
I'm going to bed now all on my own
Oh whats that? I think it's my bone!!!!

It was on the good ship Kalandia,
The crew could not have been handier,
In Tillymint's distress,
Kalandia's crew rose to the test,
To help Tillymint get to St Lucia.

When the cry for help went out,
There was never any doubt,
Cap'n Bill would step up to the mark,
He mustered his crew,
Who numbered but a few,
and delivered the spares,
without further ado.

Ode to Stu
It's Thursday today,
Hip hip houray
Stuart's cooking tea
He's the man of the match,
The one with the catch,
He fills us all with glee

He's caught a fish,
cooked a curry dish,
made croque monsieur for our lunch
he's been up the mast,
we've had a blast,
we're rivalling the brady bunch.

Cap'n Bill is one year older,
his aspirations are getting bolder,
no more boring work for him,
he's now permanently on the gin,
Every day he sets his course,
and goads his crew until he's horse,
He plans to sail to different lands,
and get his twizzle out by hand,
And so from Fizz to Cap Bill,
We say Happy Birthday, have your fill.

Wills and Pam spent their anniversary apart
A move that was not very smart
With Fizz in the ARC
It was all a big Lark
With Wills keeping watch on a chart

But with Pam at the helm with a plan
Celebrations were held on board with the clan
The food parachuted in
Was a tale with a grin
Overcoming the distance it spanned

Capn Bills not quite there, its a blow
His birthday’s on the 4th don’t you know
Plans are already underway
for a banquet that day
With fresh Marlin to be hooked on the go

We worry a little about Liz
With a razor  in hand in a tiz
What a story john could tell
If Liz could not spell
It really would not be the biz

The Dicks here continue to fish
Bringing even more fish for the dish
With the catch getting bigger
It will ruin my figure
though soon steak may well be the wish

Fizz of Cowes is off at last,
She's heading for St Lucia,
With an able crew, who know what to do,
Who show us back home, just what they're made of ....
Here's the start to my poem still working on the rest!

Your poetry is amazing me
Such a romantic man i never thought you'd be
its monday morning and sunshine again
we've just had report from our weather man
he says the wind will blow all the way
our position here is a-ok
so the lord is listening to your little prayer
and bringing us closer on trade winds fair
you've one more week of wind and rain
i know its going to be a pain
but then my love in sun you'll be
ready and waiting to welcome me.  X

The crew of Fizz especially Liz
Were off on a jaunt one day
When the skipper cried hark
I fancy the ARC
Does anyone else want to play?
So Pam packed the tins and all manner of things
To make the journey fun
And John took his Noddy wet wipes
On account of his hairy head

They had fun with the chute
One hell of a brute to get back into the boat
Fear not cried Chris
Let's try pressing this
perhaps it will work by remote?
Nay yanking and pulling
There was no time for fooling
around with the beast of a thing
But finally it came
And with no morsel if shame
The crew began to sing
Out came the beers amid tumultuous cheers
They danced and sang til dawn
Stu played the spoons by the light of the moon
With David on the foghorn

There is a women called Liz Absalom
whose favourite phrase is "let's av sum"!

The trouble is, that she makes so much noise
she has herself to blame and is now one of the boys

She then accepted an invitation
from Chris, who is her dearest relation

The challenge to Liz was to cross the Atlantic
but not in a plane even though that would be fantastic

However,I am very concerned that as she crosses the sea
I saw her husband today who has run out of tea

But don't worry Liz as you sit in your tub
he is flying out Sunday but only in Club!!

As I sign off from writing my very first blog
I am worried about Liz and how many times she has been sick in the bog!!

From Team Fizz to Kalandia good morning,
I trust you're enjoying the trip,
We were up half the night while it was pouring,
We certainly went at a clip.

Last night we had Kalandia's curry,
It smelt very good in the pot,
We all tucked in in a hurry,
By golly, it certainly was hot.

The toilets today have been busy,
No shortage of wind round here,
My tummy has been somewhat fizzy,
To the heads I must go, I fear.

The pleasures of St Lucia beckon,
We'll soon be trashed on the beach
Who will buy the first round, do you reckon ?
Will it be Willis or Peach ?

Team Fizz have more ground to cover,
The odds are against them I fear,
But they're up to the challenge, no bother,
Provided they stop drinking all that beer.

There once was a woman called Liz
Who was known for her liking of fizz
Her dream was to sail a big race
And to her crewmates not to disgrace!
But she found thier large stash
Of bubbly for the arrival bash
So thank god for the iminent meeting with hubby!!!!

Oh for a beer at a bar
Oh for a women to touch
This sailing is a great lark
but the Atlantics a bit f***ing much.

Oh for a bed to sleep in
oh for cool air at night
I wish Kalandia had air conditioning
But Bills been a little bit tight.

Oh for a path to walk on
Oh for somewhere to run
St Lucia is nearly upon us
Lets go and have some fun

We would like the Fizz team to join us
I hope you can still hold your drink
A rum punch awaits you in Rodney
Its stronger than you think

So here's the challange to you guys.
get there as soon as you can
coz Dick and Rich will be ready
As of course will the wonderful Pam

A baby is due to join this world
a blessing she will be
her due date set as december 6th
yet this part somehow troubles me,

For as baby preps for her maiden voyage
another journey does take place
Its Uncle Chris and his crew
Aboard the Fizz of Cowes they race!

Sailing onward across the waters
battling squalls and palates classes
if I weren't about to be a new Mom
I'd say "My they will all have such toned asses"

The 6th will be a few days too early I feel
for little one to arrive
for at this time My Uncle Chris
Will still be perfecting his Olympic dive

So lets team up as family often do
ending this long trip together
You pull up to St Lucia
where you are guaranteed gorgeous weather

As I pull into labour and delivery
lets try it! on the very same day
Maybe the 9th I don't know
A surprise in every way!

If this is possible and if we succeed
and E.T.A.'s do synch up
ill name her Fizz
and she will always bring the family oh so much luck!
